Welcome to her world

Travel with Caroline

Caroline's World is an invitation to discover the world differently: an illustrated travel notebook where 1950s retro elegance meets real destinations, their heritage, culture and the little stories that make you see a place in a new way.

From France to the far side of the world, Caroline travels through cities, landscapes and iconic sites. Every stop becomes a chance to understand what we are looking at: a historical detail, an anecdote, a tradition, an architectural feature or simply that special atmosphere that makes a place stay in your memory.

And because a beautiful journey often makes you want to bring something home, Caroline's illustrations extend the story through posters, mugs, T-shirts, tote bags and caps. Discovery comes first; the souvenir lets you take a little piece of it home afterwards.

Five short answers to put Caroline's travels into context: heritage, history, geography and natural phenomena. A way to give meaning to the landscapes before continuing the journey.

Mont-Saint-Michel stands in a Norman bay with an exceptionally large tidal range. During some high tides, the water surrounds the rock again and clearly restores its island character. The silhouette of the abbey built at the summit then becomes one of Normandy's most recognisable landscapes.

Built for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, the Eiffel Tower was not originally intended as a permanent monument. Its usefulness for scientific experiments and later radio communications helped preserve it. It has since become one of the best-known symbols of Paris and France.

In the 19th century, Nice attracted many British winter visitors who came to enjoy the French Riviera climate. Their presence left a lasting mark on the seafront, and the promenade along the Baie des Anges became known as the 'Promenade des Anglais'. Today it remains one of Nice's defining landmarks.

No. The Great Wall refers to a vast network of walls, towers, fortifications and natural barriers built or reinforced at different periods. The most famous stone and brick sections near Beijing are mainly associated with the Ming dynasty, between the 14th and 17th centuries. The monument is therefore a complex historic defence system rather than one perfectly continuous line.

An aurora appears when charged particles from the solar environment are guided by Earth's magnetic field into the upper atmosphere. When they collide with atmospheric gases, they excite them and cause light to be emitted. Green, the most common colour, is mainly linked to atomic oxygen; other conditions can produce red, violet or blue.
